Edison police: Four assaulted man who asked them to lower noise
EDISON — Four men were arrested on charges of aggravated assault and robbery at the Days Inn on Route 1.
Police were dispatched on a report of a fight outside the hotel at 11:30 p.m. Jan. 1, police said.
The alleged victim, a 21-year-old Washington, D.C., resident, told police he was staying at the hotel and had knocked on the door next to his, requesting that the occupants lower the noise level, according to police .
Four individuals — later identified by police as Jawon Tyus, 25, of Somerset, Frederick Foat, 24, of Elizabeth, Demetrius Moore, 21, of New Brunswick, and Elijah Fenwick, 20, of New Brunswick — allegedly assaulted the victim and took his wallet, police said.
Several police officers responded to the scene and arrested the suspects. The wallet was recovered. The victim was transported to JFK Hospital and was treated for lacerations to his face, police said.
Bail for each of the four men was set at $75,000 with no 10 percent option, and they were transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick.
