Four years later they reconnected.

And just last week, they tied the knot.

Venson D. Sydnor, who is better known as Syd Diesel in NBC’s “Law & Order” and most recently on the Tom Selleck CBS hit television show “Blue Bloods,” married Inez (Santiago) Sydnor, in Mayor John E. McCormac’s office on May 16, surrounded by family and friends. The couple lives in the Avenel section of Woodbridge.

Serving as witnesses were longtime friends and Infernos Band lead singer Kenny Simmons and his wife Ana.

Inez said before they reconnected in 2008, she was thinking about Venson.

“I said to myself, ‘What happened to Venson?’ ” she said with a smile. “I gave my friend my number to give to him.”

Venson smiled and answered, “And I was available.”

Inez said she loves her husband’s spirit and personality.

“He’s outgoing, loving, caring and sensitive,” she said.

Venson said he loves his wife’s love and affection.

“I also love her cooking,” he said with a smile. “My mom is also crazy about her; she loves this woman.”

Edith Sydnor nodded her head and said she loves her new daughter-in-law.

“She is sweet and very smart,” she said.

Inez’s mother, Gladys Santiago, said she loves both of them and wishes them happiness for the rest of their lives.

“What I love most about Venson is that he treats his mother [well]; he is a good son, so he will be a good husband,” she said.

Venson said his current profession is acting, which he started in 1994. He said he previously played football and had aspirations to play professionally, but because of injuries, that dream did not come true.

“My second passion was acting,” he said. “I have had various roles playing bodyguards and police officers.”

Currently, he has played a principal role as a detective on “Blue Bloods.”

As for his stage name “Syd Diesel,” Venson said he took the three last letters of his last name to use as his first name; he said Diesel has been a nickname since he played football.

“The name just came natural,” he said. Contact Kathy Chang at kchang@gmnews.com.
